Side Effect of Medication

0 Recommendations

Hi to All,

I am on four artamins and two zinconia a day. When I started the medication I had my neurological symptoms gone worst. Now, when sometimes I forget to take a medicine, the next day in the night I shout in my dreams. My mom informs about my abnormal behaviour in the morning. Is it due to WD? Or is it a side effect of medication. In the day time I remain normal. Does this happens to anyone else in the group? Waiting for the reply.

I am not sure that your problem is due to your skipping medication or not. I should tell you that to skip your mediction is not good for you. If you cannot remember to take you should carry a pill box You should gat it at chemists. It has boxes so that you can tell which dose you have to take and at what time. You just have fill the box every day or once week dependin upon which kind of box you have. I have suffered a lot due to mising doses. I think your docs maybe able to tell you about your problem. But I think that I have not heard any one that problem. Then again WD is a complicated disease and the side effects may vary from paitent to patient. Nice bring the topic up for discussion . you never know it may help others.

i dont know anything about your simptoms but i just want to advise you to try to never forget your medicine! That only makes tings worse!

Artamins (Penacillamine), is a chelating agent which removes copper from your system very quickly. During the removal some neurological symptoms can worsen.

I've not heard of zinconia, but I imagine it's a form of zinc which keeps the body from absorbing copper. Where are you located? Here in the states "Galzin" which is zinc acetate is used for long term therapy after chelation.

Missing one zinc dose will not affect you at all as this is a slow acting drug and it actually stays in your system for quite some time. It's probably not a good idea to miss it often.

As for your side effects, it is more than likely from the chelation, the heavy metals being removed worsened your neurological symptoms. Penacillamine is known to do this. I was chelated with Syprine, which usually does not worsen symptoms.

I do not use chelation anymore, but do have very vivid dreams that are often bothersome.

To summarize, missing one dose of zinc is not critical. I question if you need chelation therapy anymore. Have you been on it more than 6 weeks? What was your last 24 hour urine?

My suggestions, again, I don't know where you live: talk to your neurologist about being removed from chelation and seeing if "Galzin" is available in your location.
