I am a widow aged 70. My son, who is 46 had been diagnosed with WD when he was 13yrs. I lost my husband in 2002 and my elder son(who was supporting me with the treatment) met with a fatal accident last year.
The doctors have prescribed Penicillimine, Torleva(500mg), Cloba(10mg) and Zonicep(120mg). The medicines cost Rs. 7000(US$ 140) every month. I have no means of income. I have managed so far... but can't go any further. Is there any community or place where I can get these medicines at a concessional price?.... Or is there anybody to sponsor these medicines?

Dear Jayalakshmi,

The hospital, your son is getting treatment from may be having a social welfare department. You may contact them. I am also a patient of WD. I got medical aid twice from the social welfare department of AIIMS, New Delhi where I am undergoing treatment. You may also contact various NGOs of your city. I know how hard it is to afford this expensive treatment and more hard is to get any sort of aid.
Best wishes!
