I am ornela, I live in the U.S. with my husband. My brother lives in albania and was diagnosed with wilsons disease. The hospital there does not have and cannot get the medicine syprine that he needs. We do not know where to go for help.
We have talked to doctors here all day, The doctors here will not help or even advise on what to do since he is not a patient here.
All we know is that he needs this medicine right now, but we cannot get it anywhere.
What do we do now!?
Please help with some suggestions, input, ideas, or anything at all.

I would suggest contacting the Wilson's Disease Association to see if they can help you with this. www.wilsonsdisease.org is the website and maybe try contacting Mary Graper, who is the association president. Her email is mltgraper@aol.com

Also, one thing that he could do while he's waiting to get the medication is take over the counter Zinc (it helps block new copper from being absorbed in the body). I can't remember the name that some of the WDers on here take, so hopefully someone will also respond with that information.

Hi Ornela,

here are the 3 different form of over counter zinc you can get. 1st choice Now zinc picolinate; 2nd choice is Natures Plus zinc from amino acid; 3rd choice is GNC zinc gluconate.

I got the list from Jeanne. Right now I am taking zinc gluconate myself.

I was in UK for 20 odd years. I had difficulty getting Syprine there so no wonder your brother finds it difficult to get syprine in Albania. I use to take
zincombe caps manufactured in Spain. I use to get from my pharmacy which was prescribed to me. So it did not cost me much. That is the recommended zinc(zinc sulphate) form for WD in UK. How ever the names which Mellissa has mentioned is also should be OK too. You should ask your bro to consult his doc before taking any form of zinc because he might need to be observed while on medication(zinc). hope your bro get his treatment as soon as possible. Sorry I can not help him get his syprine.
