Finding the right doctor is half the challenge with any disorder or illness. You need someone who will listen and who is willing to admit when they don't know the answers. Since WD is such a rare thing, it will be hard to find a doctor who has seen numerous patients. However, if you can find someone who is at least willing to talk to other doctors and who is at least interested in going to seminars and continuing education then you have hit the jackpot!
I agree with you. In the care of and search for treatment for my son, I have experienced the reality that Dr.s are not healers. I ,too have met physicians who practice medicine but have no desire to expand their knowledge of the disease.
try the Boston Childrens Hospital. they did my transplant and follow-up treatment for 9 years. they are very nice and know what they are talking about.
