Dear Friends,
Though I have recovered a lot by the treatment I am on since the last two decades but side - effects of the treatment also show. Dark patches on my body, constant regidity and pain and many more problems due to D-Penicillamin treatment. I want to get rid of the problems. I know that better medicines like Trientine, Syprine are now available which have minimum side effects but these are not available in many countries including India. I went to the dermitology department of AIIMS, New Delhi to find out if the Docs there could do any thing for the patches. I just hate them. A biopsy of my skin was done but the Docs said that patches are due to my WD treatment only and not because of any other reason and I was left with the patches and one additional small mark on my hand (due to biopsy). I wonder if our Government, Ministry of heath will ever consider the plea of WD patients. When much better treatments which have so less side effects are now available in the other part of the world, why I still have to live with so much pain, with patches on my body? Isn't there a easy way out so that patients like me can live comfortably and without insecurity about future?

I have talked to Dr. Pandey. He told me that some of the patient are on only Zinc (either gluconate or Zinconia, one of them is Narendra from Pune). Thanks Ajit! I have already discussed the treatment options with Dr. Pandey, Dr Ashish and Dr. Tripathi, my Doc at AIIMS. The conclusion was that I should continue the treatment prescribed time to time by AIIMS.
