Just got in around 7pm tonite - just as the sun set! Here's my unofficial time... (give or take 5 minutes because I'm so exhausted, I can't think!) 11 hour 32 minutes 57 seconds!
And I didn't ride in alone, two other women in the late 40's and early 50's rode with me, and since it was their first time out, we stuck together until the end, and were given a chance in a drawing to win a cruiser bike for the Spirit Award. The lady from Rochester, MN, (in her late 40's) won it in the drawing.
Over 400 people started, but 70 people did not finish the race, many within the first 10 miles. One had heat stroke, so I stopped to direct one rider to the road, and called in to the check point for my husband to direct the ambulance to the right place. All the others were due to exhaustion or mechanical failure. The temp got up to 94 degrees with little wind.
And I was injured when I did it, pulled a muscle in my back yesterday doing a craft show, so I was in pain for most of the ride.
