Ongoing saga of the Mayo clinic,, pt 12

Got up at 6 am and combed my hair and headed out. We thought it best that I not eat and drink anything just in case I have blood work. How dry I am! Had a breathing test first thing and got even dryer. Then to a blood station to give 4 vials. 9:15. Now I am sitting at the x-ray waiting room. We are about to get chest films. I had no choice but to use a wheel chair again. I was smart enough not to use my inhalers this morning. The breathing test required you not use any of them.

Well, that was fun. I went in to get a CT with contrast (so I needed an IV) and then I waited, and waited, then moved to another room and waited and waited. Went back for the scan and she decided I did not need the IV! Great! So she gave me a bottle of water for my trouble and sent me on my way. Now it is 11:15. We are on our way to Denny’s because I didn’t have breakfast. The Ultimate Omelet. Mediocre at best. Thanks Greg. We headed back to St. John’s for the noon mass (at 12:10), that’s for you Nikki. We had a Sudanese priest and I understood every third word. There we about 100 people there. It was nice. We went to my next appmt to find out that the doctor is out sick and we have been rescheduled to tomorrow. Not good. It is now 1:20 and We are now waiting for our 2:30 appmt. If we get out of here early then we can try to get in with the hand surgeon early and maybe not stay thru Thursday. This is the internist who is in charge of my case. I got a whole list of things to discuss with her.

That went well. I have a higher dose of Anxiety drugs. Prescription for a thumb sprint because I have a ‘where and tear’ arthritis. I will have x-rays on my neck and shoulders. Different kind of nasal spray because I still have sinus drainage that may contribute to the clearing of the throat. I may be put on another stomach medicine because of the globular feeling in my throat and the wheezing is part of that. Tues I see the musculoskeletal clinic, and Pulmonary care clinic. Wed. I see the dept of physical medicine and the dept of nuclear medicine for bone density. On Thurs. I see the orthopedic surgeon and then will end up with my Internist to finalize the game plan. We will spend a lot of time waiting as a stand by to get the Thursday appmt in before that if we can.

We went to culvers for supper and I had a butter burger (thanks KT). It was great but not as good as Hardee’s. Tomorrow Ralph will have his way and we will go to Hardee’s on 14th street. Ralph went to Northern Equipment and found the axel for his trailer. I hope it will fit in the car for the drive home. He wants to go to the Mall of America but I could care less. We are going to chill the rest of the evening and go to bed early. We don’t have to be back to the clinic till 9:30 am. Hope all is finding you well.
