Pheochromocytoma

0 Recommendations

Hi,
I am brand new to this site. I had a pheo on the left adrenal in 2002 and had the whole gland removed (adrenalectomy) totally because they told me the chances of it recurring are slim. Guess what? It's back and on the right this time. My endocrinologist is recommending total adrenalectomy but I've been reading that partial adrenalectomies are a new procedure that might work well. Does anyone know any doctors on the East Coast (I'm in NJ) that have done partial adrenalectomies? I would leave this thing alone if I didn't want to have children as I'm not having any symptoms just the catecholamines in the 24 hr. urine. They told me I could die during childbirth if I don't take it out. But if I take it out I could die from not titrating the meds the right way. Anybody have any experience with total bilateral adrenalectomies? How are you after surgery? How's life? Are the meds difficult to regulate? HELP, please!!!
