vHL Pancreas Tumors

All,

I want to thank everyone for their patience as I have relocated my efforts to Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in New York. I am excited to welcome any of my current patients or new patients with questions or with a vHL pancreas related diagnosis to contact me or to come and see me at the new Montefiore-Einstein Center for Cancer Care. The Montefiore-Einstein Center for Cancer Care is committed to caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses including neuroendocrine tumors. I am in the process of setting up a team of specialists (Urology, Neurosurgery, genetics etc...) to support our efforts in caring for patients with vHL.

Please feel free to contact me at:

718-920-4231 or

email: slibutti@montefiore.org

I apologize if my move has caused any confusion or anxiety. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns (including ones related to insurance or costs). I am committed to continuing my research in vHL and my care for patients with vHL related pancreas issues.

Dr. Libutti,
Thankyou so much for posting this note on our support group/information site! I also wanted to thankyou from the bottom of my heart, for all of your dedicated research and care for the understanding and treatment of VHL.
I will email you privately, but maybe you can answer this for all of us VHL people. Do we need a referral, or can we just make an appointment to see you? Or does it depend on our insurance?
Thanks again, your work is AWESOME!!!!
Tina

I guess from an insurance stand point that depends on your carrier. I accept a number of insurance plans and my assistant (718-920-4231) can help with that. Insurance aside though, I do not require that you get a referral before contacting me. For folks that are being followed at NIH for vHL manifestations besides the pancreas, you can continue that follow-up if you like and come and see me with pancreas specific issues. Or, if you would rather be seen for everything at Montefiore-Einstein, that can be arranged as well.

If you are having scans done of your pancreas at NIH or elsewhere (important to get arterial phase CT contrast studies) I am happy to review CDs with images on them (as long as they are good quality) to avoid you having to get repeat scans when you see me. Just send them to me by FedEx or any other overnight carrier.

Best,
