S. King Mentions VHL in Short Story

0 Recommendations

The short story is "Ayana" in the compilation "Just After sunset." In the story there is a medical miracle that the doctors try to claim is just a misdiagnosis. One of the doctors says that he never trusted the origional diagnosis and that he thought it was Von Hippel Lindau. The main character says "Wouldn't that have killed him as well?"

From this I don't know how much Stephen King knows about VHL but I suppose any mention will raise awareness. I just don't want it to create any more misconceptions.

I'll have to read the story to see the context of this comment. Some aspects of VHL, especially if left untreated, or if treated wrong, can certainly do you in. But then again, an appendectomy done wrong is also lethal.

Donald Trump always says, there's no such thing as bad publicity. And the news will almost never get it entirely right.

I've ordered a copy of the book from the Library so I can read it. The name of the book the story appears in is called: Just After Sunset, in case anyone else wants to read it as well.
