peg implant after enucleation

0 Recommendations

Hello group. I am looking for information regarding the peg implant after enucleation surgery. In May, I had enucleation surgery. I am contemplating the peg implant. I have some movement with my prosthesis, but maybe want more. My ocularist says that over 90% of her patients/clients do not get the peg. I know there is a higher risk of infection with the peg? Anyone have any good or bad experiences? Talk to me.

Marie

p.s. Does insurance cover it?

marie, i don't know what enuculation surgery is, and i don't know what a peg implant is either. perhaps we could help with an answer if you can give more information. thanks, raeanne

Enucleation is the complete removal of the eye. A peg is sometimes implanted to allow extra movement for the prosthetic eye. Marie
