I know lots won't know who I am because been a long time since posting.
Oprah has gave 10,000 dollars to our local ABC affiliate to desperse among 4 organizations and the one has chosen me to recieve hand controls and classes to be able to finally drive again after 9 years. I am still waiting for them to tell me what where and when but I am very excited.The place that chose me was the organization that controls my attendant care and maybe because I am good friends with them that they chose me because I keep telling I wanna drive and get a job.

that is great i want you all to know that i wrote to oprah regarding vhl and i am hoping i get a call or they will choose the topic for her show maybe the word and meaning of vhl will be broadcasted and hopefully we can help other people that might have it and don't know it. good luck to you

I didn't actually write to her it was www.vficil.org it is a center for independent living (cil) here in Erie PA, The PR department contacted out local ABC affiliate and thats how they got hooked up and once they knew for sure they contacted me to see if I was interested and I said heck yeah. So now I have a fulltime job at this CIL and if it wasn't for them ABC and Oprah I would still be sitting on my butt at home all day bored and depressed. I has been quite an experience going from ok one day to disabled for 9 years on SSDI and now a full time job again and driving wherever I wanna go ( until gas prices go back up lol). VHL is a tough disease to have but I have overcome the barriers for now until something pops up again, but even if I do have more medical troubles I couldn't ask for a better place to be employeed because people with disabilities is why they are there.
