Looking for a Pheochromocytoma Surgeon in FL

0 Recommendations

Hi, my 78 year old father suffers from many ailments, but has been recently diagnosed with Pheochromocytoma. However, he lives in Punta Gorda Florida and we cannot find in the immediate area a doctor who can review the findings to offer a second opinion or to perform the surgery. This may be our last hope. We are willing to travel, but of course, the closer the better. Any guidance is most appreciated.

I read online that the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville can do it. Now there is another thing to consider in Jacksonville.....Proton Therapy Institute. I believe it is less invasive and extremely high tech.....then there's Johns Hopkins Hosp. in Boston....remember there are us out here carrying it around because we have no health care coverage so take heart in your situation....good luck and God bless..

FYI, Proton therapy is NOT recommended for pheos, since hitting a pheo with the proton beam could provoke a pheo crisis (and therefore possibly a stroke).

It is possible to remove a pheo laparoscopically, which sounds like a good alternative for someone of his age.

Mayo Jacksonville should be a good referral.

Best wishes,
Joyce
