JP Drain and staples

0 Recommendations

My boyfriend Simon, some of you might know who he is, has just recently had surgery to remove 2 tumors from his right kidney at NIH. They sent him home with staples and a JP drain and asked that we get them removed here. We have contacted the hospital that refered him to NIH and they said that they would not remove the drain, but would see if they could remove the staples. He isn't due back at NIH for another 6-8 weeks. Just wondering if anyone had any advice for us.

Surgery

Hi,

I too had a similar experience. My surgery was out of state and the urologist office told me the same. However, I contacted the urologist personally and he said it was no problem. Do you have a urologist that your boyfriend sees in the local area? Talk to him/her and make sure you are all in agreement that the urologist will continue seeing your boyfriend as his/her patient. So that the urologist can team up with NIH doctors and work together. Of course, you will find that you will need to be on top of this, because it doesn't always get done. I hope this helps, and that Simon gets better soon.

Best Wishes to you both!

Patricia thank you for your comment. Luckily I contacted the Urology clinic where he was refered to NIH, and they said that they help, but only after they discussed it with the NIH staff.
