Help paying for medical bills...any ideas or help?

0 Recommendations

I was diagnosed with VHL in June of 2008 and since then I have had 3 surgeries, two of which were done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Yesterday when I went to let them make copies of my Medicaid card (for the state of Illinois) they informed me that they do not accept that. So now I have at least $20,000 to pay them and I am currently unemployed due to my condition.

I know of a couple local cancer foundations here in southern illinois but does anyone know of any other helpful ones that could help me cover some of my medical bills or lend some kind of support?

Go to http://fdncenter.org (the Foundation Center in New York). They have an online database of organizations that give grants to individuals. One of their categories is "emergency funds".

For $9.95 you can get access to the database for a month over the internet, and see what prospects you can find to apply to.

Best wishes,
Joyce

I happened to pick up one of my old Cushing's Newsletters and this info might help you...
