Exercise Surgery Scoliosis Pain

I have been suffering From scoliosis For a long time (my left shoulder has a lump and looks a little hunched).I am 20 now,and the pain has increased,i had my last check up 7 years back(i didn't have any pain then),since then i had no checkup or even took care of how to cure it.But now the pain has increased a lot (i doubt the curve too,cos i took no X-rays either, will do it in a week or so now) ,and it is effecting me Psychologically too Because I'm short ( Just 5 foot & people mock at my height ) i hear there are chances that the height might increase after it is cured? And my parents are not wanting to get me operated cos they are scared that it might involve risk ( I am the only daughter to them) I desperately feel the need to get operated because of the pain (i get burning sensation too),what should i be doing? Consult surgeons? Exercise? Yoga? Or simply opt for the surgery? If i opt for surgery, does it involve any risk? and what are the chances of it being successful? Is it going to hurt me by any chance? i.e If i don't get it operated. Please do reply ASAP!

PS : I was to get operated when i was 13 i.e when i was diagnosed of it,but my parents backed off cos of the risk (is it so risky?) Am i being even more prone to risks cos of it
