I was wondering if any of the asthmatics out there have tried Zolair... I am using my rescue inhaler several times a day, even when I use the advair faithfully... I guess what I am trying to say is I don't feel I am in good control... I would appreciate some input... thank you take care Happy Fall everyone!!! J

what are you allergic to?

His scratch test showed positive for everything except dogs. Especially high was dust mites.

Sounds like my 18 year old son. He did the shots for a couple of years and we removed the carpet and drapes from his room and most of the house. We covered his matress and pillow case with dust mite protective casings. Unfortunately, you can not remove him from his world totally. We also added OPC3 and an isotonix multivitamin. This seemed to work the best, because it boosted his immune system naturally and helped his system to regulate the histamine.

Thanks for the input! Can you tell me what OPC3 and an isotonix multivitamin are? My son is 19 and we have done exactly what you have done including removal of the carpet.

What’s your opinion of the Xolar it seamed to work so well in the beginning?

I’m setting up an appointment with a cur aid practitioner to see if he can do anything. Also my son is on 80mg of anti acid a day (high dose).

I have never had him on any type of prescription drug, so I can not comment. We only did the shots. Many times our bodies will build up immunities to drugs, which is why antibiotics keep changing. please email me at jahavener@comcast.net for the other info. I got in trouble for directing people to other websites from here.

Hi I have more allergies than I can name... peas, beans, peanuts, tomato, soy, milk, I am allergic to dust mites, mold, many trees, ragweed... The last time I was tested they covered my back and arms and it took forever to measure them all... I do not get allergy shots anymore cuz my lungs are too bad... I really try to avoid the things I can... I don't go where there is smoke we have hard wood floors in our house. I take Zyrtec and singular use advair and also pro air HFA now. I am thinking of trying zolair but would like to know if it helped anyone else... take care, J

Read the book "Your Body's Many Cries for Water" by Dr. F. Batmanjhelidj. Or you can keep taking meds and using inhalers that only make your body more dependent.

My doctor had me taking zolair shots ar home and now my insurance doesnt pay for it and without some one to give me shots like a nurse at adoctors office or hospital I can no longer recieve the zolair However when I was on zolair I didnt need to use my rescue inhaler as much Now I use it more even using advair and have been in the hosptial at least 4 times this year alone Does your doctor have you taking anything else for your asthma? I take accolate and theo something or nother I cant spell along with nebulizers 4 times a day or as needed which can be every 2 hrs. Do you see a doctor who specialises in the field of asthma? If you dont I would sure recommend it to you Asthma is nothing to play with Please talk to your doctor and let him know what all is going on with your asthma May it go well for you

I have been on Xolair for the past year and a half. I have to say that it really saved me. I developed latex allergies that suddenly became so severe that I wound up hospitalized. My Pulmonologist really fought for me to get approved for the med. I was suddenly such as severe asthmatic that I was afraid that I may not be able to work outside my house after being a nurse for the last decade. Xolair has suppressed my reaction to latex to the extent that I can be around the gloves without getting short of breath. Of course I still can't wear them and don't practice in the same manner as previously but I am not locked in my house. To be approved to have to have your IGE level checked and I believe have a level from 30-700. I may be a little off on my numbers. As far as I know at this point it is only approved for use to treat allergic asthma but I have heard that it shows great promise in treating other allergic symptoms. I get 2 shots per month and though it is quite expensive without insurance the drug company has programs to help those that need it get the medication. Many doctors I have met in the course of my job are not willing to fill out the paperwork , some will refer to other MD's and others just don't offer it to their patients. I wish you luck, I have a good friend who I thought would have been approved but her IGE was not in the right range.

Definately go for the xolair. It has saved me from prednisone and hospital admissions. If you can get your insurance to pay for it then definately!

What is this medicine? How is it better? How has it helped you? Im new at this asthma and meds don't seem to be helping prevent the hospital runs, or scareing my family as well as me Please someone help me out!!!!
