INeed answers about an STD?

0 Recommendations

I need some answers about this STD! Mt wife who is 20 weeks pregnant comes home from her Dr. visit and tells me that during her checkup, that she had a week ago that they found a positive result for an STD called Chlamydia. So she tells me about this and says it came from me. Knowing I have never cheated on her, I went in and had a STD test at my local Dr.'s office and they just called me with the results and i am negative. My question is where would this come from, I know women get all kinds of weird things that happen with their body during pregnancy, can this be one of them? And two, can someone have Chlamydia for years and not know it (we have been married for 3 years). Or should I just assume my wife had relations with someone else and caught the desease from someone and the baby might not be mine. I need some real answers on this matter.

I am not an expert and so I will not even begin to give you info... I would suggest you go to Web MD.com and look this up. If you have reason to believe your wife has been unfaithful and the baby is not yours, then my feeling is that you have bigger problems than an STD... Please take care and don't jump to any conclusions get facts... J

Hello, I am not an expert but I am a retired nurse and currently work in the pharmaceutical industry.
Chlamydia has 3 types: C. pneumoniae, C. psittaci and C. trachomatis.
These type of infections are sexually transmitted diseases. The C. trachomatis is the most common cause of sexually transmitted diseases in the USA. It stays dormant in our body for a very long, long time and for some odd reasons it flairs up during pregnancy or when a person is immunosuppressed.
Was your wife prone to ear eaches or ear infections, conjunctivis, or pelvic pain when she was very young or even presently? If so there is a possibility that her mother may have Chlamydia when your wife was born. Chlamydia Tracomatis is transmitted from mother to fetus and for women who deliver vaginally or by ceasarean section the bacteria can be transmit ted to their infants during delivery. Because mothers are often asymptomatic, medical personnel are unaware that the maternal-infant has occured until the newborn becomes severely ill.

On the other hand, there is another STD that also flairs up during pregnancy. It is the human papilomavirus or genital warts. It has seven types: Type 6,11,16,18,31,33 and 35. These are sexually transmitted viruses and have an incubation period of 1 to 6 months and again stays dormant in our body for a very long time and it flairs up when one is immunosuppressed or pregnant.
The drug of choice for HPV is Azithromycin or Zithromax.
Talk to your wife and her physician.

Congratulations!
Good Luck
