My husband and I are doing fertility treatments and we got really good news that the new treatment that we tried worked but now we have to have intercourse to get pregnant now. Well I have a problem, when my husband and I have sex as soon as he ejaculates and pulls out, all of the semen seems to come out as well. So I guess my question is how or what postion can I do to make sure it stays in where its supposed to. Because after all we went through this time I dont want to be unsucessful just because we cant keep it up there. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I am a registered nurse and mother of five. One thing to try would be propping your hips up on a pillow as you lay on your back so the ejaculate would have to sort of go uphill to fall out. Another thing to remember is that when a woman has an orgasm, the cervix dips down with each rhythmic spasm and sort of sucks up the semen if it is in the vaginal canal close to the cervical os. If you can, be sure to try and have an orgasm just after he ejaculates. Also, afterward, I would keep your hips propped up and lay down as long as possible, such as at night just before you go to bed. Or have him leave his penis inside afterward and lay there for a while. That should help keep those swimmers in there! Also, as you lay there afterward, it couldn't hurt for you to do some visualization techniques. Instead of worrying so much about it not working or his semen staying up there, actually visualize his sperm swimming upward and finding and fertilizing your egg and conceiving a beautiful child that your heart so desires. Stay positive, not everyone gets pregnant every time. The situation has to be just right. Another thing to consider is the acidity of the vagina. If you are not drinking enough water and eating healthy foods for your body, the vagina can become very acidic and kill his sperm before they ever get a chance to fertilize the egg. At least eight 8oz glasses per day. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, and take a prenatal vitamin.
Sending hopeful and fertile energy to you!
-Holly
