Does sitting in a jacuzzi help or hurt a back ache?
no i had 4 back surgeries and fussions. sitiing in hot water does not help me, but it does feel good. does nothing for the pain
It sure would feel good to me. I have a lot of back problems and I think it would really feel awesome!!
Go for it!!!!
Dee
The tub feels good while I am in the hot water.
Ice helps me more, in fact (15 mins on 30 off)
Physical Therapy seems to work the best (in the water if in a lot of pain). Losing weight, if you believe you are overweight, helps. The Physical Therapy helps strengthen the muscles. My Physical Therapist alternate 'land' and 'water' exercises.
My therapist gave me a book to keep at home when I had to stop the therapy (because of insurance). The book makes sense - easy to follow and has helped me when I have had a bad attack, book name: Treat your own back by Robin McKenzie. ISBN :13:978-0-9582692-3-0.
If you decide to get one of these books, I recommend you go to Chapter 6 and Chapter 9: Emergency Back Treatments. Kid you not.
In addition to MRI to make sure you don't have anything more serious; physical therapy; correct posture; weight; learning how to bend.....i.e. you can go to pain management - that helps me the best (shots in the back either cortisone or epidurals or blocks).
I have had a fusion in my spine (by head); but not in the lower back. Right now I am doing the physical therapy and shots and they are working.
Good luck
I have a bulged disc in my lower back that is pressing on my spinal cord. It's very painful at times. I know the hat water would feel great as it would help the muscles to relax. As for the pain, the doctor told me to work on my posture and gave me several exercises to do to strengthen the back muscles. It does help for the most part but do whatever feels good to your back.
