I have just started working as an aide for a little girl age 10 with arnold chiari type 3 and was wondering if anyone out there has ever dealt with this disease? It is extremely rare and less than one percent of the population gets this. I am hoping to find out what I can expect in her learning and social behavior. It has been a bit of a struggle so far. She has a great memory especially when things are put to music. Does anyone out there have any experience with this? I would appreciate any help at all. My name is Jorie. Thanks so much.

I am new to this discussion. My son has Chiari type 2. Our school experiences have been very challenging. He now has an aide. You wanting to understand and find out about it is huge. They use alot of positive reinforcements and work with his strengths. Like using the computer for written work. Alot of visuals and reminders. As you get to know her more and find her interests it will be very useful. Thank you for what you are doing for her. Oh my son is in middle school now and this is his second year there. He is doing well now.
