Prolactin and Remyelination

1 Recommendation

Has anyone else heard of the "University of Calgary" discovery, that PROLACTIN helps with Myelin Repair? I've read some articles about this, and I was curious if anyone else heard of this. Here are a few of the articles. 1- http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19608204
2- http://www.mssociety.ca/en/research/pdf/medmmo-preghormone-20070222.pdf#xml =http://www.mssociety.ca/SCRIPTS/texis.exe/webinator/search/pdfhi.txt?query =prolactin&pr=default&prox=page&rorder=500&rprox=500&rdfreq=500&rwfreq=500& rlead=500&sufs=0&order=r&cq=&id=496ba168a

Did anyone else hear of this? It looks very promising for Demyelinating Diseases. They state that clinical trials should begin by the end of this year.

Hello shawtom2-

I contacted Dr Weiss from the University of Calgary recently. He replied back that clinical testing will start in 2010 on MS patients with optic neuritis. If it's determined that the prolactin is helpful, physicians can determine what other things it could be used for. Let's pray for success!

That is great news. Thanks for sharing the information that you found.
