Physical Therapy for AMN Ment

I am 31 years old with AMN and I use a cane all the time when I go out. I would like to do more physical therapy than stretching at night, but I want to know, what are the best exercises to do to increase my mobility. thank you.

Hi Joshua,
Any form of Physical therapy Gym work or exicise has to be an advantage.
I have just started going to a Naturapath. She is giving me massages and some different medicines. She told me that she couldn't do anything for the AMN but hopes that the massages will help with the stiffness and mobility. I have only been once so far, so a bit early tto tell. The medicines that I'm taken have certainly helped with stomach problems.
I'm 51. I have a tramping stick that I use some times, especially when i'm away.

Hi Joshua,
I'm a 50 yo woman working with AMN. I found Hanna Somatic Education to be extremely helpful. So much so that after using the movements for 4 years I went to school for 3 years to became certified as a Hanna Somatic Educator. The difference between stretching and HS movement is simple - it's learning to completely contract a muscle(s) and then to completely release it. When a partially contracted muscle (and this is what we're working with) is stretched, then when the stretch is finished it maintains that partial contraction. When you do your stretches ... really think about tightening the area first and then SLOWLY and GENTLY move out from the contraction to release it, and then relax the muscle(s) involved before repeating. This does 2 great things: 1) we work the muscle(s) in their full ROM and 2) working slowly/gently we begin to learn more about our body and, therefore, use it smarter! There is a book written for us laypeople (read: not medical jargon) that I started with that outlines the movement, it's how I began.
