Non-Steroid Protocol?

I understand that there are quite a few transplanted kidney patients who have never had to have steroids as part of their immunosuppression. Who are these magical people? LOL

I am on my 2nd transplant and of course, take Prednisone. Thankfully, I only use 5 mg. a day. One of my sisters' also had a transplant but since it was her first transplant and she had a living donor - one of my cousins who shared her same blood type - she never had to use steroids. Because of course there ARE side effects to long-term steroid use.

Anyone NOT using steroids with their transplants? How is that going for you?

Hi Kimajor,

It's been two years that I received a kidney transplant from a cadaver and I'm also on Prednisone. I'm on 4mg a day and I don't think my transplant team is going to lower the dose. I wish I was one of those lucky people that don't take steroids! Hahaha! Anyway hope all is well with you. [=
