Myelodysplastic Syndromes and Hemolytic Anemia

0 Recommendations

“My Dad has been diagnosed with both Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), in which red blood cells fail to mature; and Hemolytic Anemia, in which the body creates antibodies which break down red blood cells. We've been told that the combination of these two conditions is both rare and very unfortunate because the RBC production deficiency is being compounded by the abnormally rapid RBC breakdown in the bloodstream. The resulting symptoms are *extreme* fatigue and weakness (bordering on complete immobility). Does anyone out there know of anyone who has had successful treatment of both these conditions ?”

Hi Jane,

I'm sorry I have never heard of the conditions and treatment. I hope your father is well.
