Issues with being suppressed

Does anyone feel light pressure in chest....I'm think indigestion....I've never had these issues and I'm wondering if suppressing has raised my anxiety to the point I'm having indigestion and it affects my breathing..... I have started to take tums and it helps but I've never had theses issues in the past.....so wondering if there is a connection or completely separate issues????

I'd like to share that question actually and also the past couple of nights just my neck and shoulder area are completely drenched, nowhere else is wet, not even face. Weird? RAI still working on me? And a little hyper?

beloved: I would try a Pepcid at bedtime. If symptoms crop up during the daytime, too, you can take Pepcid mid-morning, too, so twice a day 12 hours apart. 20mg famotidine is the generic. Continue for a couple of weeks, and report your symptoms to your doctor. It's possible your dose is a little high.

Thank you Cabro I'm going to try it.....I get my one year follow up sono on Tuesday then blood work follows. If everything looks good I may ask to have my meds lowered a tad to see if I get some relief......

Beloved: I have had problems with indigestion/acid reflux since thyroid removal last November...I take prescription strength ranitidine (300 mg twice a day) and that helps a great deal, you can also try omeprazole, but I think you need to take that for a while before it starts working. You can talk to your doctor about trying something stronger than Tums if you feel uncomfortable. Try sleeping with your head slightly elevated so there's no acid back-up, that can cause chest pain or tightness at night. My reflux gets worse when I am closer to hyperthyroid, so I'm hoping to lower my dose once I clear my year follow up in January. Good luck.

Thank you for your advice Carolin I'm glad to hear that this is not just in my head and it could actually be from going so hyper :) I'm definitely going to take or get prescribed stronger meds for indigestion.

My endo said my symptoms had nothing to do with my thyroid, however I may want to take 1/2 a dose on Sundays to see if I feel better. Then follow-up with my FP and ENT regarding pain and voice. Pass the back maybe?

Monday, I may try to reach the nuc med doctor, she would know I believe, cause she talked about afterward symptoms quite a bit.

Frustrating.

The usual progression with acid reflux is first Tums, then Pepcid or Zantac, then omeprazole or lansoprazole, then the big guns like Nexium with an upper endoscopy. I hope the OTCs work for you.

By the way, how suppressed are you? (TSH)

I am having the same issues. I am unsure if its heartburn or acid reflux or I thought it was. I have been having issues with pains I my chest and tightness for several years now. I have seen a specialist and they said "Lose weight and you'll be fine!" I know that I am overweight but this has nothing to do with my chest tightness and pain. I also believe its being suppressed.

i have been experiencing the acid reflux since menopause (post M for 6 yrs). TT/RAI in March and May 2012 made it worse. had upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, barium swallow study. i wake up with it (elevated w/pillows). eating usually helps. my larynx is irritated (on photos from scope exam). i did have carcinoid cancer found in duodenal bulb during colonoscopy. i can't stress enough to get your scopes! both, upper (you have to pay the deductible as it is "diagnostic", not "preventive") and lower (covered by insurance).

being celestial is absolutely correct. i too had indigestion problems, had both the upper endoscopy and the colonoscopy recently where i do have acid but more importantly they did a biopsy from the colonoscopy and found i had collagenous colitis which could be cause by a "thyroid disorder" it means an there is inflammation in the part of my colon they biopsied. it is also classified as an auto immune problem, a new issue for me. so please get checked out.

i've suffered from acid reflux/heartburn/tightness for about 3 years and was on famotidine (20 mg) every single day..if i missed a day i was miserable...
last week, i was griping to my chiro that the acid reflux had gotten a lot worse since the TT. He handed me a bottle of colostrum supplements and told me to take them twice a day...once in the morning on an empty tummy and a few hours after lunch (2 capsules each time) . He said it would prob take a month...at the most 2 months...he'd never heard of anyone needing more than 2 months worth, usually one did the trick.
OMG i cannot BELIEVE the difference it has made...the first couple of days it was a little rough but i managed to not take the famotidine (taking a tums in the middle of the nite when i woke up with the burning sensation) and i'm not quite a week in and its DEFINITELY been a huge improvement...not saying it would work for you, but def worth a try...it has made a world of difference in my life..looking forward to the end of the bottle (he gave me a months supply) to see how much progress we've made and if i need a second month...

Thank you all for responding......I did try over the counter zantac and it did help.

Cabro - I am about 130 lbs and I am taking 112 levothryroxine (spelling ?). My THS has always been below .2 but recently it had dropped down to .09.....not sure why....It's amazing that I can have energy one minute then feel like I cant keep my eyes open the next..... I don't have any problem sleeping and I get a lot of brain fog....... My regular Endo will not test Free T3 so I'm hoping that the Dr. at Hopkins will. I go back for a follow up with Hopkins in February.

Thank you all for your knowledge and support :)

beloved, what is your FT4? if in good range and TSH is that low then that is why they aren't testing the FT3. my PCP doesn't have a problem with testing whatever i ask, unlike the endo :/ did you change any other meds? my TSH was always 0.1 (once we regulated w/correct dose) then we tried cutting out 1/2 a pill once a week and it shot up to 0.56 and the Tg went up and found thyca in LN. both went back down after 2nd surgery (LND) but now the TSH is 0.04. we are trying the 1/2 pill strategy again and will retest in feb. i sleep 6 hours p/night. hope that increases an hour in a few weeks. you give a great description-energy then can't keep eyes open. i always nod off during DWTS :[

Beloved, When I was on high does of levothyroxine, I had the same issue of a pressure on my chest and a lot of anxiety. I think that it was from being too suppressed. Reducing the dose from 137 to about 125 made a BIG difference! All best wishes, Myrna
