Have been on Sulfasaladine for six months with no improvement, any suggestions?

Hi Rebe............I believe it is for both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, but for some strange reason....there is away more talk of psoriasis than there is of psoriatic arthritis. Not sure why that is.

Do you have both? I do....I have had both since I was 25 years old. The psoriasis itself started when I was 17, then the arthritis began very fast, at age 25..........with 3 small children...one only 2 months old ...when it began. But here I am, at 71, still chugging along and making the most of it all. Life is precious...and sweet (most days) :)

Mandymuff, I admire you.

Site is for both.

Hi Mandy did you take anything for the psoriatic arthritis over the years?

Hi DB...yes....I have been on medications for psoriatic arthritis since it first began. In the early years...3-4 I think, the doctors could find no medication which my body would tolerate. Every one they would try I would end up in hospital with a serious reaction. So during those years, it was large doses of asprin.....like 4 or 5 at a time....every 4 hours, to keep the inflammation down. Anyhow...there is a long list of things I have used.....then sometimes I could get by without anything, other than pain meds. for a time.

Now I am on Enbrel....have been for 3-4 ? years, and minocycline (antibiotic) along with it. I was feeling really bad a couple of months ago so stopped taking Enbrel....thinking it might be the culpret, but it was not. It was just a flare-up, so I am back on those 2 meds, and feeling better again.

I am on Embrel for 41/2 months and MTX for 7 months and am doing well. I am glad you are doing well again.
