Wish me luck! Hmm. I wonder how long they will keep me, and if they will shock me before I leave.

Good luck! I'm so glad you found a doctor to implant your ICD! They kept my husband overnight when he had his implanted. Update us on your progress when you get home.
Good luck from me too! I got mine the day before discharge after my arrest. So maybe overnight. Just don't rush getting back to 'normal' after. Keep us updated!!
Good Luck! I have now learned that an ICD is the very best thing to have. I am so glad that my husband has one. Maybe now I can work on not worrying so much!
That's exceptional news! I must say that I feel much more comfortable with my ICD. 4 months after it was implanted, I had a major VT "storm" and was shocked 8 times. I had 122 recordable episodes of VT before the day was over. It was in some ways the worst day of my life (worse than the SCA). At the same time, thanks to my ICD, I am still here. I'm grateful for my little "insurance policy!"
Congratulations, Vicki! That's great.
I'm amazed how quickly this happened for you.
Let us know how you're doing. I'm assuming you're home and a bit sore and loopy at this point. I hope you're right-handed since it does make recovering that much easier! I'm sending good thoughts your way!
Hey everyone,
I am home! I actually came home yesterday, but was having alot of pain with my right side and breathing. It was excruciating. Everything was fine untinl midnight after surgery and I started having pressure pain when I breathed in. Xrays were okay so they sent me home. An hour or so later at home, I couldn't rest on my bed, it was like knives and terrible, unexplainable jabs. We called and were told to come back to the ER and had another xray which showed fluid on my right lung building since that morning. Then on to CAT scan which thankfully showed no clots. So they put me back in to just get me comfortable and improve my pain. By then I was standing and leaning on the walls to keep from crying. I was so relieved when I received the first shot of ?dilaudid? sp. I finally got some rest and shots every two hours. What relief! Yesterday mornings xray showed more fluid but I was under control with the pain and they sent me home with meds until Monday. So far, so good. The pain from my right side has completely made me forget my icd implant, It was tested in the hospital, and had to pace for 35 percent of the time, so it has already been put to good use. My body can already tell it is working, my pulse is up and everything seems to be working like clockwork. Anyway, I should find out more soon about the other stuff. Calling Dr. tomorrow! Thanks for wondering and thinking of me. Vicki
