Private AEDs

0 Recommendations

Does anybody have any info on AEDs for private purchase? Is there any kind of a website?

Since I had my SCA (2 blocks from the hospital, in the presence of my wife), I've thought of a few areas that could use them. To be blunt, I live in a State where it's unlikely to get public funding, so I'm considering getting together with a few friends and just BUY some for these areas (church, schools). That being said, I tried to find information and can't really find any. Is there somewhere that'll tell me:
a) AEDs that are fairly idiotproof, that don't require training. Training is a reasonable idea, but ofr areas like Churches and Schools the chances are that the user won't be trained.
b) AEDs intended for these areas-virtually no likelihood of use (hopefully) but necessary
c) Costs?

Thanks.

Alan

This is not a marketing site, but if you send me an e-mail link to peter.metcalfe@startaheart.com I will be happy to supply you with sourcing links and suggestions on funding options that have worked in areas of limited funding availability.

Phud,

Using the computer to search...Go to AED.com and you'll get all the information you need.
Good luck,

Hi Alan,

Glad to read you're doing well!

I'm in the process of putting together a website to address these specific issues. It should be active within the next several weeks.

In the meantime, I'd be happy to share info related to simplicity of various AEDs, training, and placement issues. Actual AED products prices range from $1200 - $3000 each and varying according to features and accessory supplies needed.

All of these are things to be considered when setting up a program.

Please send your email address to ccs58@msn.com and I'll get back to you.

Regards,

Carol

As the parent of a sudden cardiac arrest survivor, I recognize the importance of public access to AED's. In NYS we are fortunate that AED's are required in public and charter schools as well as health clubs. However, if you are at church, walking in town, etc, you often do not have that same opportunity. In our community, we formed a community organization dedicated to providing awareness and training regarding CPR and AEDs. We volunteer as American Heart Association instructors teaching people at church's, community centers, etc. We have reached out to hospitals, local businesses, fire departments, and families, to financially support our effort so that we can offer the training free or low cost. As a result MANY people are gaining the skills to perform CPR and utilize an AED. In addition, we have been fundraising to put AED's in libraries, a local restaurant, etc. We also addressed our town board who were not previously educated on this important health and safety issue. They unanimously approved the purchase of 8 AED's for municipal bldgs. in the town and the training of municipal employees in these skills. A few reputable AED companies are out there. We have found this gentleman to be very helpful: Doug Comstock, Cardiac Science, 860-970-3250 cell. You can also go to AEDsuperstore.com Good luck in you mission to make your community Heart Safe!

Please note that our website has information about AEDs in general (http://www.suddencardiacarrest.org/learnsub.asp?ID=53) with links to each major manufacturer. There is also info on setting up AED programs: http://www.suddencardiacarrest.org/resourcessub.asp?ID=74.
If you need further info please contact SCAA staff.
We commend you for your interest in this,

As you see by the comments to your posting, there are a number of websites with AED sales information. I’m most familiar with www.aednow.com, since that is the company I work for. After you’ve reviewed our company’s website, if I can be helpful, please let me know.
