Okay, I'm going through some really tough times and need your feedback. It seems that you guys are the only ones who can understand what we feel and deal with.
I'm on new meds, Metropol 200mg and I don't know if I'm in an adjustment period ir what is going on, but every night 2-4 hours after taking my dose, I start getting these strong palpatations, squiggly/wiggly feelings (don't really know how to explain those) and pain right in the center of my chest. I have a heart rate watch from MIO, and I can track my pulse. It fluctuates from 43 to 225, quickly jumping up and then back down in seconds. I know some of what I'm feeling is my pacemaker kicking in when it drops below 60bpm but it is making me crazy. I keep expecting to either die, or have my ICD shock the crap outta me. I'm just two weeks out from my last episode which was 3 shocks in 24 hours triggered by VT/VF episodes.
I know I'm rambling, but maybe it will help just to vent with you guys. before I lose my mind.
I am seeing my Cardiologists tomorrow and Electrophysiologists next week, so will discuss with them.....
anybody else lost in this world of uncertianty and stress?

I'm not really sure if I can help you, but I didn't want you to think you're out there alone! I also take Metropol, but I do not have those kinds of experiences. I am glad to hear you are seeing your cardiologist, etc. so soon. I think they are the people that can answer your concerns. It sounds scary for you!

I compare surviving an SCA experience with a near-fatal attack by a grizzly bear, great white shark, serial killer or bigfoot! And you were attacked by that monster 3 times in one day! Three deadly attacks in one day! On top of that, your body is still bracing itself for another attack. Can you imagine how much adrenaline could be pumping through your veins? I think that is why I pace like a wild animal sometimes, because of all of that "fight or flight" adrenaline my body is producing from feeling like I'm being hunted. Describing it this way has really helped my husband and others better understand what I'm going through. How can a person really care about taking out the trash, folding laundry, going to work, and so on while trying to outrun a grizzly bear!? Could anyone take a peaceful, relaxing dip in the ocean with a blood-thirsty great white shark circling them!? In other words, you're not losing your mind! If you are, then so am I! We just have to learn how to live the rest of our lives with a deadly predator stalking us!

Thank you both for your replies. I appreciate the support so much. The last couple days, I have been feeling better, I think I am adjusting to the meds (Metropol 200xl). I saw the Cardiologist today and he said I am going through an adjustment period, and that I should expect to feel better.
I'm hoping he's right.

I learned one of the most important lessons last week: listen to your body. I was experiencing heavy breathing when i would lay down, not shortness of breath but i definitely noticed a heavier almost labored breathing for a few days when i would go to bed. One night it definitely worsened so my wife took me to the e/r-turns out I had fluid in the lungs which they said was caused by congestive heart failure. Whether it be due to medications we may be on now or just lingering after effects of experiencing an event I don't think there is anything more important than noticing any changes you may be suddenly experiencing but more importantly is to then tell someone and follow up.

Wow, thank goodness you paid attention. It is hard for us sometimes to acknowledge our issues. I have a buch of ongoing problems from a Motorcycle accident years ago, and sometimes, honestly, I just get tired of all the problems. This has led me to ignore new things that pop into my Life.
When I had my first heart problems, two years ago, I waited quite a while to drive myself to the Urgent Care, then almost did not make it. They rushed me to the ER and admitted me for VT.
Same thing happened again, the second time around (I only had an Ablation the first time), I was with my kids, and didn't want to call 911 and scare them and all that. I a couple hours until my Wife got home.
Well, they had to shock me back from the brink in the Ambulance on the way to the hospital.
I hope I've learned my lesson..... ;)
