Is there a free clinic in Southern California that will check my ICD for me?

I have no insurance and the doctors that implanted the ICD in May of this year refuse to check it out to see how it is working.

I felt the device shock me for the first time this afternoon and I am a little freaked out about maintenance without medical care.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have had my St Judes device for a year now. I very much enjoy making stainglass windows. This activity requires me to use a small hand held welder.
Ive never had a problem with it. Im wondering if its a safety issue or not (?)

Can you contact a representative of the device's manufacturer; ie, Medtronics or St. Jude? Do you know which device you have and who manufactures it? I would suspect if you called them and asked them this question they would be able to direct you better. I would start first thing this morning calling the manufacturer and seeing what they can help you with. When we travel we know all of the Medtronics offices worldwide in case something happens. Good luck and keep us posted.
