The first week in June is National CPR/AED Awareness Week. Take this time to thank all those organizations that have placed an AED for their help in saving lives. Encourage them to use this occation to remind employees of the AED plan in place and location of the unit.
Ask all places you visit if they have an AED. If not, encourage them to consider meeting the AHA recommendations for early defibrillation and the OSHA Best Practice First Aid Guidelines in implementing an AED program.
Ask you neighborhood pool or ball field if they have an AED. Ask your church, school, bank, restrauant, hotel, nursing home, senior center or place of work.
Remember that if everyone who died of SCA last year was laid to rest head to foot, the grave would run for more than 300 miles. Most died because an AED was not quickly available according to the AHA. Save american lives and place an AED for public access. Together with AED placement, we can save, every year, nearly 50 times the number american lives lost in the last ten years fighting the war on terror.
Please encourage the placement of AEDs.
