Long QT syndrome Atrial fibrillation Metoprolol

What is your diagnosis? My cousin and I have Long QT Syndrome and atrial fibrillation. We both have ICD's. He has had LOTS of shocks and I have had only one in 19 months. The difference is that I am on Tambocor along with Metoprolol. Once he was started on the Tambocor, the shocks stopped. It's a big guns medication, but I am grateful. You might want to ask your doc. There are others, like Sotolol and they all require a hospital stay to initiate. Good luck!

Please write down a list of the food you eat and drink, and the health supplement you take,in addition to your medications.Carry the list with you,and show it to your doctor. You will be surprised to find out
that you consume caffein, that can cause faster heart rate and subsequent cardiac arrythmia.
Some health preparation contain something for energy.Guess what?It increase your adrenalin etc.
By writing down you won't forget to ask your doctor.
He will be pleased by your initiatve. He will also remember it,because, itis documented.
Good Luck.

My husband has a difib....every time he is scanned by the medtronics scanner it showed arrythmias....within 7 months it was decided his beta pace had stopped workingand they switched him over to amiodarone...thank GOD they did..he has had 2 solid months of no arrythmias. DUring the changeover, before his system was loaded with the medicaiton he had 60 shocks within 20 hours in the hospital. GO TO THE DOCTOR! They should be monitoring your rhythms...top be sure your neds are working. Mine would be dead if his doctor wasn't so proactive with him. He has sarcoid of the heart and lungs...rare thing.

Good luck!

guess what ive just been admitted for quinidine loading...
we shall see where that goes!

already loaded the amioderone 2x
reduced the metropolol to 50mg
this can get exhaustive... thanks for all the support!
