Biventricular pacemakers/ICD

0 Recommendations

Hello, it was just recommended that my husband have an upgrade from a single lead ICD to a biventricular pacemaker/ICD due to a decreasing Ejection fraction(10-15%). The hope is that it will decrease his symptoms of CHF(fatiigue, Shortness of breath, etc.)

If anyone has this device, any feedback would be appreciated as to improvement in symptoms, etc.

Thanks!

Asthma Pacemaker

I had mine upgraded on 12/22/2009 and I am glad I did. I was having increasing shortness of breath and difficulty sleeping. They implanted it at 8:30 in the morning and I was home by noon the next day. I have been sleeping better ever since. The doctors told me that it might take up to six months to get the full effects, but I noticed mine right away. Hope it works as well for your husband.

I started out with an ICD-R (pacemaker and defib) Feb 09. I have 3 leads. It has helped my EF in just 2 short months from 25% to 40%. Shortness of breath is pretty much gone (I also have asthma). My coloring is better too. Good luck to your husband. Any other questions, just ask......

Thanks for the replies! It's good to hear others having good results with the device!

I had one of these implanted last year (April 08) and it has been my little miracle. It has done so much for me. Increased my EF from 25 to 60% and I feel well and do whatever I want except ride roller coasters.
