Awareness is the first step in placing AEDs

1 Recommendation

Many organizations have not implemented an AED program in their facility. This includes schools, churches, restaurants, offices, factories, banks, hotels, retirement homes, nursing homes, dorms, health clubs, golf courses, senior centers, or sports facilities. All of these facilities have a policy on treating SCA, but they do not realize they have a policy, or do not want their members, employees, customers or visitors to know the policy. The following is something you might want the person in charge to acknowledge and place where all interested parties can read it.

Public Notice

DNR for SCA Policy:
(Do Not Resuscitate for Sudden Cardiac Arrest)

It is the policy of this organization not to comply with the American Heart Association CPR/AED recommendation for early defibrillation or the OSHA best practice guidelines for first aid, in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. Procedures are to call 911. The time delay in calling 911 will probably result in the death of the victim. If they do survive, resultant brain damage is very likely. The do nothing policy is being undertaken for financial or other confidential reasons that will not be disclosed.
