Musicians and Stroke

Interested in connecting with other musicians. I played piano and percussion and have been using music with my rehabilitation. I've been trying to play piano and using recorded music with exercise. Have gotten very good return on hemiparetic left side.

Exercise Stroke

I, too, am a musician who had a stroke. My main instrument is flute. My stroke effected the right side of my body. I still have trouble with finger coordination and such. I have been looking for resource specifically aimed toward musician - stroke survivors.

Sorry it's taken me long to reply. I don't know of any published resources and I have not found much information. Personally, based on advice from one of my therapists to, "Be your good side" and focus on what is working right, I decided to left my strong side/brain reteach my weak side. so with finger work I tryed to exercise in parallel. I did a lot of coordinated finger tapping with both hands in unison. I tap on tables or to each other whenever I have a free momemnt or waiting for and appointment. I try different patterns, like touching pinkie to thumb with a double tap and working through the pther fingers and back and speeding up and slowing down. Just keep moving your fingers and keep trying.

i guess im one lucky one.......i can still push the guitar around as well as be4 the stroke........as for motivation............hmmmmm

there is a semiretired doc / neuro/musician at the royal victoria hospital at McGill U. in montreal,,,,,i think there is a website. personally i have a hunch that musicians, artists etc......it seems to me that we cross the central line (cant remember what its called)and in music anyway share motor and intell. tasks......anyone know something?
