Have you ever just felt like...

Stress will find its way to you no matter what. My friends and family have told me that I am stressing in moments when I know I feel no stress. But it seems like it is always there. Gosh darn Stress! I am tired of the bad stress because there is good stress. Its the bad stress that seems to take a toll on me. It has physically caused me to get sick sometimes. Has anyone ever felt that way? Does anyone feel like stress is just a natural part of your life?

I know EXACTLY what you mean...my family has told me that I have forgotten how to relax, that my stress level at my 'norm' is higher than their peaks. My sister has told me that she has never seen anyone like me because I am constantly doing something - and she's right. I am one of those people who has to get everything done and as a mom of 4 with an in-home daycare business, my in-box is never empty...and that drives me NUTS. Like you, I know that some stress is good but I have been overstressed for so long that I wouldn't know good stress if it smacked me in the face! :)
Realizing this, and not that I'm able to do it all the time, but I've learned to build in little moments for myself. Whether it's just standing outside looking up at the stars or smelling a fresh breeze, reading a good book for 15 minutes, praying for God to help me remember my blessings, listening to a CD while I clean, just anything to get my mind off things. Some days are obviously worse than others, and I find that I also have a hard time remembering that I *did* take a few minutes for myself because the stress always has me in high gear. I worry about the toll it's taking on my health too. I have a Dr Phil quote on my mirror that reminds me of the potential impact of stress: "You need to listen to your body because it damn sure listens to you". How true! It's definitely an eye opener.

I love that last line that you wrote. I think that is something that many people who stress like we do need to figure out, accept, and take action. Thanks for responding. Its not easy for some people to put themselves out there. God Bless!
