Well, really haven't been out of bed much since we got home this morning. The pain has mostly subsided, but I haven't really done anything either. I am still having muscle spasms, although they are not as often.
Okay, since I feel a little better today, I can explain a little more.
I have many many, many Allergies, Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, Chronic Lower Back Pain from a Car Accident from '00, Degenerative Disk Disease, Fibromyalgia, GERD, a Genetic Hip Abnormality, Hashimotos Thyroiditis, Hypoglycemia, MCS, a Rheumatic Disorder, Sarcoidosis (Pulmonary), a Seizure Disorder, and Sleep Apnea
On Dec 25, 2004, We were living back home in WA and my hubby had a gig (he's a drummer in a band) in Seattle, so we drove from Olympia to Seattle. I started with symptoms of 'what I thought was' a cold... you know scratchy throat, cough, stuffy nose, etc... and so I sucked on cough drops and drank green tea all night.
That was the beginning of this whole ordeal. Joe had to go to Reno, for a two week gig (of course), and so I was left at home. I was working for State Government at the time, but was on sick leave, as I just wasn't feeling good. By the 30th, I was in the hospital with an asthma attack... mind you, I hadn't had an asthma attack since I was a kid... And naturally my doc was on vacation, so I just dealt at home until she got back. I went in to see her and she put me on antibiotics and referred me out for chest xray.
Well.... the referred clinic got ahold of me and stated that there was a 'defect' or 'shadow' on the film, and I was to come in for a second xray... Now, I should have been concerned by this, but I was trying to be optimistic. My doc also referred me to an allergist, as my asthma was getting worse. When they said that I had to come back for another xray in 4 months... I and my doc got really concerned and she sent me for a third xray. There was a total of 2 months between the first and third xray, and in that time my lung 'shadow' went from being just a 'shadow' to a third of my left lung affected and part of my right lung. I got a call from my allergist the next day, with the 'wonderful' news. He then asked me if I knew what Sarcoidosis was. I did, and was faberglasted to say the least.
The next 2 years I was home more than at work; as I would try to work a day or two, and then I would be off for a week, to recuperate.
I went to a Pulmonologist, and fired her shortly after that, as she stated that all of this was in my head... But, the one thing she did dx me with was GERD.
A new Pulmonologist and a Rheumatologist at the University of WA University Medical Center. They tested several things... by the time they did the bronchoscopy, I was in remission... then I had the cardiac test, but was in a wheelchair by then, so they had to test with drugs... I don't recommend that!!! It felt like my heart was going to pound right out of my chest!!! , as I also had the worst case of Pink Eye my doc OR the eye doc had ever seen. That in itself kept me off work for almost a month!!! And I had my eyes checked. They dx'd me with high normal level of Glaucoma.
Anyway, I was forced to retire from the State of WA, and then we moved to Reno. The good thing about the move is... the dryer air here is soooo much better, but the heat can be unbearable at times.
Now I just do my best to deal with my illnesses. I take prescriptions for my Thyroid Disease, but have to take OTC meds for everything else, except for the occassional pain med that I get from the periodic hospital visits and from friends who see how much pain I live with on a daily basis.
We'll just see about getting some assistance, and a doctor or two. Then we'll see what is next for me.
