my experience at the Mayo Clinic part 7

Wait till you see the pics of ‘Cheap Charlie’s’. Talk about a hole inn the wall in the middle of Rochester sky scrapers!

We got up at 6 this morning and I had a left over omelet from Cheap Charlie’s . It was gross after being micro waved. Not good. The coffee in the hotel is like colored water so we usually get a large cup from the clinic somewhere. I wanted to change the batteries in my camera when I got in the car so I pulled the spare 2 that I grabbed from home and put them in my frozen camera, it was in the car over night, and they didn’t work. Crap. Now I will have to buy batteries to take pics of the cemetery we are going to see this after noon. Right now we only have 2 appointments. One at 8 and one at 10. The rest of the day is free. Ralph got me a wheel chair again today. I have come to the realization that he is much happier with me in it so he can push me around with speed. It sure gets breezy! He took me to the Methodist building but I told him that on the guide it was in the mayo building so we had to turn around and backtrack a long ways. He got his workout in this morning because it was up hill on the way back. We are now in the waiting room to see Dr. Shepard. At least we thought we were in the right place. I cant wait to see what he looks like….lol. This is the Doctor that I told you about yesterday. World renowned. I hope he has good new, that he found something or can do something for me. I hope they are not exersizes…but I don’t want another pill either. Picky, aren’t I. Ralph has had time in these waiting room to ‘appreciate’ the murals on the walls. He does not understand how a blob of paint can be called a human. I saw the painting and I don’t see it either. Break time.

Eight o’clock am and they just called us up to tell us that we have to go back to the Methodist Building! Poor Ralph. Here we go again. Now we sit and wait. It is now 8:32 for an 8:00 appointment. But considering who we are waiting for I guess we can wait….

We were in there for over an hour. What an elegant man. Very intelligent. He asked me every question that could be asked about my health and my blood relatives, yes Pat your headaches from chocolate are migraines. After some other tests with a mask with cameras in them, he came up with a relationship between migraines, anxiety, and imbalance disorders. All linked together. They saw a mass in my back cerebellum but they thought it was not pressing on anything to cause the dizzy or headaches. I gather from everything so far today that anxiety is the catalyst. So before I go on about that I will talk to you after this consultation with a neurologist. Well we have not been called in yet and it is 45 min. past my appointment time. I think Dr. Shepard ran us behind. Ralph is going up to make sure they did not skip over us. No here we go.

Dr. Cross asked me to state my history yet again. She concluded I am neurologically sound and that I need to get on a migraine medication that works better than the one I am on now. She said the headaches I have without the visual disturbance is still a migraine and I should take an over the counter medication. Ralph offered to play doctor with her and then we left. (I am so embarrassed.)

We are now cemetery hopping. You heard it right. Awesome stones dating as far back as 1817! So weathered they are smooth. OH MY GOD, Ralph just got out of the car to chat with the mower guy. He must be about 70 years old. Some of the monuments are huge. Must be a rich community. There was a stone dedicated to the people who gave their bodies to research to the Mayo Clinic from 1917-2007. So cool.

We are now sitting in our room watching ‘dirtiest jobs’. Gross! As we gag at the tanning of hides we are contemplating where we will eat. I cant even describe how discussing the tanning is. You just need to see it for your self when RoseAnn tapes it. Eewwwaahhh!

The ‘Old Country Buffet’ is just around the corner. I believe Ralph wants to go there and I am up for it as soon as my stomach calms down. We are back now. We had a very mediocre meal. Ralph thought it was well worth the 10.49 per person. He had steak and roast beef so he is happy. I am now trying to get on the internet again. It’s giving me trouble so I am now in the breakfast nook. A very strong signal but I cant pull up a page so I am going to reboot and see what happens. Nope nothing. I guess I will try again tomorrow.
