Heart Transplant

"It will have to be replaced."
That is the phrase that the cardiologist used yesterday.
My husband and I had seen a marked decline in his energy over the past few months so we knew there was trouble brewing in his chest.
The sarc in his heart was bad enough to stop it suddenly in July and the prednisone didn't help much...just puffed him up, gave him a rash on his face and made him moody.
In a few weeks he will be taking some special tests that the University of Washington calls "Heart Transplant Protocol".
I suppose these tests will determine when/if he is put on the transplant list.

All of this doesn't seem real. This stuff happens to "other people".

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.

You can learn about the ways in which sarcoidosis affects the body in FSR's Sarcoidosis and the Body brochure.
