Vitamin D and fish Oil

0 Recommendations

Hi Deb

I take both Vitamin D and Omega 3 fish oil. I find your input very interesting and would like to check it out for my self.

Could I have the web site you went on to find this information?

Thanks,

Heh Jan,

There are many links...I'm not sure which I would recommend. I would suggest maybe searching with words Vitamin D Sarcoidosis or Calcium Sarcoidosis. There are many clinical papers written out there referring to this connection. They are very detailed reading but certainly worth your time. Once I heard about the warnings on the Caltrate label, I spent a lot of time reading up on this.

I'm not sure how long the warning has been on the Caltrate label. I just had a friend mention it to me so I looked it up online because I keep forgetting to look when I go to the drugstore. It is a very interesting connection though as there is so much emphasis put on calcium supplemenation for women who get close to menopausal age. If the papers are right, we are really setting ourselves up for some health problems if a predisposition to Sarcoidosis. Checking the statistics, around age 50 is very common for women to flare! I just flared the week of my 50th birthday....it was crazy....talk about being on a timer. One of the things that I had been ingesting a lot of at the time was Tums, which of course contain calcium and are constantly being advertised as a calcium supplement right? Well, I guess in the case of a Sarcie again, not the right thing to ingest.

Let me know if you're unable to pull up any papers during your search and I'll go back through my history and copy for you! Good luck...
Deb
