Tuberculosis

I have a wild question for scientists.
Is it possible to carry TB in your DNA and to have a genetic tendency for granulomas? Whereas epigenetics could then determine if it switched on and if your granulomas were caseating or not?
I had 3 direct ancestors who died of TB. Any chance that something could have been passed down?
Just some random thoughts on a Tuesday evening. :)

I am wondering why my lung tissue samples where not tested for TB while they had them.

I have not been official diagnoised with Sarcoid, yet. I have many, many labels and there is still more to this.

Good luck with your question, it is very good.

Hi that is a very good question. One that I have been unable to get an answer to, so far. My grandmother died of TB, my grandfther I am told was a carrier although never ill himself. My mother has had lung problems all her life and I third generation have been just diagnosed with Sarcoid. I wonder too, is there something that lays dormant in the DNA and could swing either way!! Whichever its a pain in the preverbial! Good luck, we need more research into this.
