Sarcoidosis attacks my bone after big shock.

Sarcoidosis, which attacks a bone following a shock.

Hello, after 3 months of assumptions I think I finally understand without the help of the ten doctors who have examined what happened to me.
I have symptoms of pulmonary sarcoidosis since November without treating, January to May I had the left leg very painful, sometimes with blocked muscles and very hard. In May, a huge stone fell on my left leg without breaking it in two places.
Since sarcoidosis is attached to these two places, and made two holes in my shin.
Did you have this kind of experience? And how did you heal you since steroids inhibit calcification?
Thank you
Ben

Beniot,

I'm sorry but your post was little confusing. Have you been diagnosed w/sarc? If so..where & how? You are NOT on pred? You did NOT have any breaks in leg from stone? What did you mean when you said "sarc. is attached to these two places?" Are you saying that you think you have sarcoid in your leg bones?

Want to help, but need clarification. Thanks-Jayne

Hello Jayne, indeed I am French and not very comfortable with your language.
I have pulmonary sarcoidosis that was diagnosed by biopsy. My leg was not broken but the clash with the stone was really huge.
I am not under pred, I stopped for a puncture in the calf because the doctors wanted to see if it was not cancer. My calf was infected because I was immunosuppressive, I had a surgery because the infection had spread in the calf and the wound of the operation was also infected, so they removed part of skin, I am waiting for a transplant for Thursday!
But I still have a hole in my bone, which was the begining of the story.
Thx for your help.
Ben

Sarc affects the bones. I shattered my knee cap over 10 years ago and the orthopedic surgeon told me that my bone was very soft. I never put it together until a biopsy of a tumor in my elbow confirmed that I had Sarc. Now with pain in my hands I went to see an orthopedic doc and he took an xray. He told me my bones are erroding and sent me to a rheumie who stated that it is probably from sarcoidosis. I have never taken prednisone either. I think when there is multiorgan involvement the sarc can affect many parts of the body. They suspected I had sarc in the early 80's but it was never confirmed until 2007. I did not have symptoms until 2006. Good luck with your situation. I hope this info helps you.

From what I have read on this site it seems that if you suffer from sarcoidosis it will attack your weak or injured areas in many incidences. This must be what happened to you. Many sufferers on this site have previously mentioned how it has attacked them in a certain area after surgery. You injured the bone on your leg and this may have triggered sarcoidosis in this area. We are learning all the time. Especially by sharing our experiences.

As in my case-----sarc is eating away at the bone marrow thus causing brittle bones. I am one step away from a fracture. I am having a hip replacement due to artho-sarc and bone marrow issues next month. The big concern is at points of attachment and if they will heal properly or if sarc will take over. Unless they get the sarc under control I will be bionic in the next few years. ///Can't wait to leap tall buildings in a single bound!

Hey Unicorn, Good luck with your surgery. I hope that everything goes well for you. Keep us up to date with your progress.
Take care,
Krissy.

Ben,

So sorry to hear of complications w/leg. Sounds painful. I hope your recovery progresses well after your skin transplant. I am guessing they will just monitor the "hole" in the bone as they don't know what to do for you. So frustrating. May each new day find you one step closer to wellness. Please let us know how you're doing.-Jayne

Help and information from FSR

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.

You can learn about the ways in which sarcoidosis affects the body in FSR's Sarcoidosis and the Body brochure.
