Sarcoid specialist in VA,MD,NC

I have been told by my pulmonologist to seek advice on my spleen from a sarcoid specialist. Of course that is easier said than done. Any ideas in this area of dr's who specialize in sarcoid, especially dealing with a enlarged spleen. thanks for any input.

NIH, National Health Institute has a sarc center and do research on sarc as well. It is in Bethesda, Md. Also if you do search on sarc drs a group in Charlottesville, Va show up but if it were me I think NIH is the way to go. Hope this helps. There have been people on this site who rave about their treatment at NIH. Good luck.

I have sarcoidosis of the spleen also. I would be glad to hear what information you find. I did not realize that there was a doctor who specializes only in this area. I thought the pulmonologist would be the sarcoidosis specialist!

My husband consults the group at Hopkins - Dave Moller. We have had a good experience with him, but I know others are less certain. The thing I like about him is he really is an expert and knows a great deal about sarcoid - in every part of the body. He may also have a recommendation for you in terms of someone particularly knowledgeable about your spleen issues. Just my two cents, Rascalsmom.

Thanks everyone for the info. I will check into these and keep you posted. thanks again

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.

You can learn about the ways in which sarcoidosis affects the body in FSR's Sarcoidosis and the Body brochure.
