PVC's and abdominal twitching / spasms

0 Recommendations

Hi gang, I don't post often but read almost daily. The information here has been so helpful since I was diagnosed last year with Neurosarc(spine).

I've just recently begun having PVC's, and I've also started having twitching and spasms in my abdomen - mainly the right front side. The twitching had gone away when I first got on Prednisone at a higher dosage(60mg every day). I'm now at 30mg every other day and fear that it may be coming back.

I'm being referred to a cardiologist to check on the PVC's, and am also being referred to a new neurologist(I fired my last one!). But, I was wondering if anyone had ever experienced these two symptoms together? I was thinking they may be related since they both seem electrical in nature.

I went to the ER last week, and it turns out my potassium level is low, so I'm eating a banana every day - but still having the PVC's. Should my potassium level rebound quickly?

Sorry to bounce around so much - brain fog! Any insight you can lend would be much appreciated. God Bless!

yes, i have muscle pains and spasms/twitching, whole body spasms. prednisone of 40 helped greatly but totally, and yes when i reduced the prednisone oh boy did they come back quick, so they're keeping me on 35 which is keeping most of the spasms away but not all. cardiac, i have blood pressure and extremely high rate problems, with dysrythmias. i'm glad to know there is someone else close to my symptoms. hope everthing goes well, your doing the right things and going the right way, god bless and keep going.

I have had PVC's since the late 80's. I take carvedilol, which is the generic for Coreg. The dosage is one 3.125 mg in the morning and on at night. Have no problems with the PVC's.

Hi there,

I had both...and have both. Actually, after a couple of issues that were passed off as other things (though I am now sure were sarc) my first symptom was abdominal twitches. At first, I thought I was suffering from some sort of 'phantom pregnancy'. My son was a few months old and I thought maybe my body was having a hard time adjusting to not being pregnant anymore. I had also had a cranial nerve palsy and knew then that something was really not right.

Fast forward a couple of years, add a diagnosis of celiac disease and there I am...suffering from terrible twitches all over my body. At any given time, there would be consistent twitching going on. Sometimes there would be a twitch around my joint and a whole arm or leg would jump out suddenly. I started having dizzy spells, tingling sensations, the inability to string sentences together properly, fatigue, malaise, rapid heart rate...I was diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoid and started on prednisone. A couple months later, still twitching (though slightly less), I started to notice what felt like skipped heartbeats, though I thought it might have been the pred. My EKG was abnormal and I had high blood pressure. While waiting to get a Cardiac MRI, I went to the ER with horrible chest pains and my BP was way too high. Finally, a few weeks later, I got the MRI and was diagnosed with Cardiac Sarcoidosis. A month later I had a defibrillator implanted in my chest.

Anyway, that's my story and I hope you don't have all of what I had. But, if these things are new and you truly feel that they are not okay, you just might be right. I was initially worried about MS, then neuro sarcoid, with the twitches and history of cranial nerve palsy, though my brain and spine appear normal. Have you been told anything regarding a possible connection between the neurosarc and the twitching? One of my doctors and I came to the possible conclusion that the sarc may be affecting some peripheral nerves, but not the central nervous system.

As you may know, once sarc is found to be a chronic condition affecting such a thing as the spine or heart, it is often found to be in other organs as well. I hope that everything is fine with your heart, but I would certainly have it checked thoroughly and follow your instinct.

Take care and good luck,
Dana

Yep,
pretty common, see the post I started last July.

Yes, and before I was diagnosed I thought it was just nerves or being extremely fatigued. Now I know it's part of the Sarc symptoms. It's worse when I am at rest or driving...it sometimes feels like I'm being pricked with a needle, it's aweful.

Hang in there...Jules
