Pulmonary sarcoidosis pain and stopping smoking

0 Recommendations

I stopped smoking 5 weeks ago. I am on methotrexate since last April. The front and back of my lungs have not hurt me for almost the past four months. BUT, now they have been for the past two days. Its not hurting slightly either at times. I do not have any other symptoms either. So I am wondering if anybody else had this happen too after they stopped smoking. I am afraid that my med is not working anymore. This pain is in the same exact place and they same kind as when my sarcoid was not stable. I know exactly where my lungs are due to the pain.

How long has it been since you had an xray or scan? Are you having any accompanying signs of sarcoid (increase fatigue, sweating)? Any fevers? If its manageable, you can try Aleve or Ibuprofen, hoping its just some pleuritic inflammation. If you have severe pain, more symptoms, fever.. get to your doctor. Hope you feel better.

Hi

I have had that problem a few times. Things are changing structure. Including your lungs and Bronkis.Hang in there and take a walk' pet an animal or do something cause it is easy to focus on the fact you are not smoking.
I have had pulmonary Sarc for over thirty years. Smoked most of them.{IDIOT I AM}. I quit from three to as much as nine. I swear Iused to work on the road and had sometimes done like 31/2 packs a day. I got pneumonia {yes Sarc related} and than Staff I was on life support for weeks then a lot of drugs. That was the best way to go thru withdrawal. Though I wouldn't recommend it.
Please stick with it. I breathe better now than my forties. I have emphesema as well as the sarcoid.
Very much luck to you. Ellen
