OSHA agreed that the building I work in has indoor air quality problems!

0 Recommendations

Hello everyone. I just wanted you to know that I am very happy and very sad about what I found out. it was determined that there was an indoor air-quality problem in the building that I work in. My friend and co-worker worked in this building for 26 years and she died last year from sarcoidosis. This year I was officially diagnosed.

Now that it has been confirmed that this building has issues, I am waiting patiently for worker's comp to pay for my insurance so that I can leave this building. I am at a stage 3 and feel tired everyday. Now, I have to face the fact that I can not work anymore. Then what can I do to be an asset to society instead of a burden? How sad.

Sometimes I am so tired that I can not even think straight. Have any of you been suspicious about a place where you spend a lot of time? This building has been severly neglected over the years. The CDC got involved and now I am just trying to make long time workers aware of what is going on. I dont want anyone to get this terrible disease.

I am sorry to hear about your health issues and your co-workers passing.
I too was suspicious about a building I had worked in for almost 15 yrs. It was built in 1933 and I remember vividly how they were tearing out asbestos about 40 feet from my dept with just plastic hanging up from the walls. A few nurses on the same floor had miscarriages around that time as well.
I came down with sarc and I have always wondered.
Hope All Goes well for you with workman's comp,
Doreen

When I was young I worked in an office attached to a foundry and every day I would go home coughing up the black soot from the foundry. I often wondered if the sarc was from that. People used to die from a form of Black lung disease.

Before I bought my house we lived in a half a double (half a house) that had a dirt basement covered with mold. I've always wondered if that had anything to do with it.

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.

You can learn about the ways in which sarcoidosis affects the body in FSR's Sarcoidosis and the Body brochure.
