I went to see my doctor this morning due to a sore throat and plugged nose. He checked it out and said it is not H1N1. Don't have the symptoms but have some from my sarc. I asked him about getting the H1N1 vaccine because of the sarc and he said I should get it. Because we don't know if my sarc is active and it weakens my immune system and he says it in a nasty virus. He did say the media has blown it out of proportion but to get it none the less. Now I'm wondering if I do decide to get the vaccine how will it react to the sarc. Can my sarc be affected and be activated or strengthened from it? Just wondering what my sarc will do if anything if and when I do get it I guess. I originally decided not to get it but not sure now. I hear both yes and no sides. Please give me your input. Thanks!

I felt the same way about the N1H1 vaccine but my rheumotologist told me to get it. So, yesterday I took it and so far so good. Just a sore arm.

just make sure to get the shot not the inhaled vaccine. the virus in the nhaled one is a live virus & being your an auto immune person you cant take it. i got mine almost 2 weeks ago & i have had no problems at all. good luck! ~christy~

I had mine Wed. and my arm didn't even hurt. Like mentioned above...get the shot/dead vaccine. We who have pulmonary sarc are at a greater risk when contracting any virus/regular flu/ H1N1 or pneumonia as lung complications can make the virus and secondary infections much more risky than in the normal healthy population.

I got the shot on Tuesday and no problems so far:)

I am going to get my H1N1 on Monday. I have faith!!!!!!

I dont no because my mother has multiple sclerosis and they told her to definitly not get it. They said it wud affect her disease. I havent really heard about sarcoid. So who knows?

Hey HopeNicole, I can't decide whether to get it or not either. I keep going back and forth.

I had mine last monday, so far so good, just the sore and ackey arm for a day. My doctor advised I get it and I trust her opinion.

I am supposed to. I got the regular flu shot again this year. Pneumonia lasts for 5...I am having ankle swelling like I haven't seen since since last years' shot? Coincidence?

Hey, I had h1n1. Thought I was going to die. felt like I had a fridge on my chest. couldn't get enough air. fever and cough was bad also. If I had a choice of a shot or H1n1, I would get the shot.

I got the seizonal flue vaccin 4 weeks ago and i fell sick a week after that with...seizonal flue, allready for 3 weeks now. The first time i had a flue vaccin since i have sarcoidosis. ...

I think my sarcoidosis is reacting to the vaccin but if you get H1n flue i suppose the reaction will be even stronger.

I'm taking a lot of immuno repressants; plaquenil, Imuran, Prednisone and Remicade infusions.

My sarcoid doctor recommends that I get it because the shot is a dead virus and he said it will help some if I come into contact with it in the public. The only problem is finding some place here you can get it.

Good luck.

Frankie

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.

You can learn about the ways in which sarcoidosis affects the body in FSR's Sarcoidosis and the Body brochure.
