Good luck, this is also how I got my diagnoses. My thoughts are with you.

Nothing but good thoughts being sent your way!

Good luck! That's how I got my diagnosis. The procedure really isn't that bad. It was worth it.

This is how I was diagnosed, too. The thoracic surgeon thought I had Lymphoma, but guess what?? no cancer, just granulomas= Sarcoidosis!!! Good luck! hope you have neither disease!!

I too was diagnosed this way, ok its a minor op, but this will give you the all important definite answer, which makes it totally worth it.
Let us know how you get on.

Lots of luck. xxx

Good luck, sweetie. I had mine last October. Take care of yourself afterward.

I hope you don't have sarc, but we're here for you if you do!

Big hugs.

Like many of the other posters, this is how I was diagnosed just last Friday (August 14th). When you're done enjoying the drugs, let us know the results and how you did....

This is how I was diagnosed in May of this year. I hope that you don't have either cancer or sarcoid!! Just be sure that you doctor sends you home with adequate pain medications for the first few days. Sometimes thoracic surgeons, at least mine, feel that it is such a minor surgery in comparison to their other surgeries that I wasn't given adequate pain control. Thank heavens my other physician was there for me and provided me with the medication. One nice thing about this surgery, you will know for sure what is in there. For me knowing was the beginning of healing. Good luck to you! Your will be in my prayers.

Good wishes your way. This is how I was FINALLY diagnosed. The procedure is nothing. Good drugs : )

Good luck with your procedure and to a speedy recovery!

Hugs.

Dear Tired: Had the same procedure in "07. Was Sarc, not cancer and my surgeon was able to tell just by looking at it. I had just slight discomfort at incision sight but nowhere else. I hope all goes well. Knowledge is power.

this is how i was diagnosed in august 08

Thank you everyone. I am doing fine, a little stiff & sore, but not too bad. The surgeon did say after the procedure that it does look like Sarc, but I will have the definate results in about 10 days. The procedure when smoothly. I really wanted to thank the anestesiologist (sp?) as other times I have been put out, I wake up soooo badly sick, and what ever they did to prevent it this time worked like a dream. It made such a huge difference in recovery. I guess being a young(er) female I am at high risk for post-op nausea.
Anyway, thanks for all your well wishes.
Atleast now I have an answer.
I beleive my dr will play the roll of watch, wait & see as my symptoms are not bad right now for the likes of prednizone.
I am however going to ask her to send me to an optomologist. I have read that us sarkies need to keep an eye on our eyes.
As "rare" as this desease is, does anyone else think it strange that both myself and my neighbour across the street have it? Is it something in our environment? our neighbourhood? our city? It drives me crazy that there are no known answers.

Hey Tired,

I apologize for such a delayed response - but I am very glad that you have an answer. And that your post-surgery experience was good. I'm having my eyes checked every six months. You have probably been told this before - but any changes in eye-sight should send you to the nearest ER NOW. Failure to have immediate treatment (if sarcoid related) could result in the death of tissue in the affected part of the eye.

I hope that things are going well for you...

Chuck

Has anyone elses Mediastinoscopy scar turned Keloid?? (just wondering if its a sarc thing...)

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.

You can learn about the ways in which sarcoidosis affects the body in FSR's Sarcoidosis and the Body brochure.
