Imuran side effects

0 Recommendations

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a Happy Halloween. I just wondered, as I was just increased to 150 mg of Imuran along with 20 mg of prednisone, if anyone gets kind of a spacy, can't concentrate feeling. I feel kind of like my head is kind of spinning. It seems to subside after a couple of hours after taking it. I hoping it will go away, but I'm afraid my sats going down don't bode well for this combination. I can't take methotrexate and I'm not sure what else there is.

I am trying to stay active and am even doing pulmonary rehab -- to up 35 minutes on the treadmill, but I am having an increasing oxygen need. Frustrating!

Thanks for any comments, Lizi

Imuran Prednisone Methotrexate Celebrex

Have you had any lung field imaging lately?

I had a chest xray a few weeks ago and go to the doctor this next week for results. Lizi

I've been off Imuran for a couple of months, and I can honestly say that I feel more alert without it. This is not to say I haven't been prone to some brain fog, but I just feel a lot more "in the world" than I was on the drug.

LIzi, I did wonder if Imuran caused as much or more brain fuzziness as the prednisone. I am glad I was able to get off all the "big gun" drugs. Right now all I take is Celebrex for the joint issues.

Best of luck to you on the pulmonary results.

I'm on both Imuran 150 mg. and prednisone 5 mg. I used to be on 40 mg. of the prednisone, but have gradually been able to taper down on that one. I'm unable to go below that though. As soon as I go below 5 mg., my liver enzymes start going back up and I start feeling really crappy. As much as I might feel foggy from time to time, I'd rather the more imuran, so that I'm able to stay lower on the pred. Unfortunately, I think we're kind of stuck. We have no choice but to take these nasty drugs, but I have to say, I'd much rather take imuran and pred combo with the pred lower, than methatrexate any day. Good luck on things.
Big Soft Hugs,

I had massive brian fog on Pred, but never noticed it with Imuran.

Sarcoidosis and the Body
Sarcoidosis is a "multiorgan" disease - meaning it almost always involves more than one organ. It's unpredictable and affects different people in different ways.

You can learn about the ways in which sarcoidosis affects the body in FSR's Sarcoidosis and the Body brochure.
